Yay! Christmas!

December 12, 2010

Christmas is finally here and exams (for me anyway) are finally over!

This makes me super happy and last night we had our sorority Christmas celebration where we got to exchange presents! yay presents!

Another thing I love about Christmas is all of the sales that happen around this time of the year. It gives me a chance to restock my stashes of… pretty much anything that won’t go bad!

I was so unique
Now I feel skin deep
I count on the make-up to cover it all
Crying myself to sleep cause I cannot keep their attention
I thought I could be strong
But it’s killing me

Does someone hear my cry?
I’m dying for new life

I want to be beautiful
Make you stand in awe
Look inside my heart,
and be amazed
I want to hear you say
Who I am is quite enough
Just want to be worthy of love
And beautiful

Sometimes I wish I was someone other than me
Fighting to make the mirror happy
Trying to find whatever is missing
Won’t you help me back to glory

You make me beautiful
You make me stand in awe
You step inside my heart, and I am amazed
I love to hear You say
Who I am is quite enough
You make me worthy of love and beautiful

Can you believe it’s December already?

And soon enough, New Years is just around the corner!

Recently, I’ve decided to go back at look at my New Years resolutions of last year to make sure I’m on track. You can bet your bottom dollar that I’m not.

To refresh my mind as I haven’t seen this list since… January 2nd, here are my resolutions for last year:

1) Journal more.
2) Pastor Paul was saying in sermon the other day that our devotions should be at least an hour a day because we spend more than that talking to our closest friends. It’s going to be super hard for me to spend an hour but I’m going to try to spend at least 45mins a day talking to God.
3) Be a better listener/friend. This one is going to be SUPER hard because all I do is talk talk talk.
4) Push for a 3.5 – 3.7 range CGPA Still getting there…
5) Lose at least 10lbs for the summer by exercising five times a week. I’ve done it twice a week… on good weeks when I was able to make both ultimate frisbee practices and games.
6) Sleep before midnight on school nights. Haha! No.

On the bright side, here are some things that I actually did this year!

1) Win the UTMSU election
2) Charter alpha Kappa Delta Phi at the University of Toronto
3) Meet Quest Crew…?

Great, now I’m just fishing for things. On a side note, I know the last one is not really a big accomplishment LOL Pretty much anyone that went to frosh could say the same thing!

After reflecting on my list of (or lack thereof) 2010 achievements, I told myself that I have 29 days left to complete my resolutions. Not to be discouraged, I hit the gym today with determination and an iPod full of motivating music. I lasted about 15 minutes. But never fear! Tomorrow is a new day.

So for those of you out there who made New Years resolutions, I encourage you to go back and reflect on them because it’s still not too late for you to give yourself that gold star!

September!

November 3, 2010

Hey Blog Readers!

It has been a crazy month, as the beginning of the school year always is. Every day, my day consists of a minimum of two meetings (today I had 5!!) and on days I don’t have meetings, I’m in class, studying, playing ultimate frisbee, sorority house meeting or just chilling with my psises <3. So a good kind of busy! =]

I’m supposed to be studying right now. But there is so much to study that I feel very unmotivated. Good thing Sinthya is studying hard. She can study enough for the both of us. =D

Here are some photos from Frosh 2010! I didn’t take too many this year since I was running around as an exec. Playing a organizing role rather than being a frosh leader is much harder than i expected it to be. But i’m super lucky i got a great team to back me up too!

working the bar with VQ!

aKDPhi-ing with Feng and Steve of Quest Crew =]

I looked and felt like poop at that point cause of sleep deprivation, benign eating and 5 minute showers (I typically need at least 15).

I also did a baby freeze in a photo with Hok. But it’s too embarrassing to post

I got to come home for a week in the summer and help my lil bro move into rez. SUCH a lucky kid! He got a double room to himself! Yay! Gonna be visiting those oilers when i come home! =]

Then we went to play pool!

Yupp and that’s all for now. Sorry about my crappy posts. (I’m supposed to be studying right now… and I should be cause I’m making Twix and perilla do it with me!

Love from University of Toronto Mississauga FROSH 2010

Hey Orientation Leaders!

I’m sitting at the airport waiting for my flight home right now so I wanted to take this chance to let everyone know that they were (and are) AMAZING leaders and role models and I am soooo proud of every single one of you. I rarely write these emotional likes of note things  and for those of you who know me, I’m kind of robot-like (LOL) so I’m writing this from the bottom of my heart.

This was my third Frosh Week (first as a froshie, then a leader and now an exec) and I have never seen a team so dedicated and kickass! You made me wish I had my own group! You all posses unique leadership qualities and I hope that you have discovered that this week if you didn’t know that already. I love the passion you guys have for your froshies and orientation would be nothing without the dedication and energy you bring to it. Your energy and positivity is contagious and I hope you continue to inspire your froshies even when frosh is over. Because you.can’t.you.won’t.stop.us.now. Werd!

I hope to see you all throughout the year! Visit me at the UTMSU office if you have time or need a reference letter!
Have fun on September 10th and keep rockin’ it UTM-style!

P.P.S. PICTURES TO COME!! =]

Caribana 2010

August 2, 2010

This weekend I got the chance to attend Caribana with my UTMSU team! It was super fun and festive – like a huge party on the street.

For those of you who don’t know, Caribana was started in 1967  and is North America’s largest street parade/party that revolves around Carribean traditions and cultures. It takes place in Toronto, Ontario and people participating in the parade are commonly wearing very lavish and sexy costumes that have lots of glitter, feathers and beads. There are also lavish floats and trucks with DJs playing soca and reggae.

Here is a awesome song that was getting people pumped all weekend:

If you know anymore, feel free to post them in the comments! (you don’t need a wordpress account to post a comment!)

Get ready for another picture-heavy post. I’ll start off with the floats! =]

Caribana Floats

Here is a little girl pulling one of the lavish floats.

Caribana People

We saw these blue Trinidad people coming down the street and I was super eager to take a photo with them.

After taking this photo, the guy in the back came up to me from behind and dumped baby powder all over me. Later, I looked this up and it’s actually a tradition in Trinidad, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Guyana called Dolyatra where they throw coloured powder and water. It’s kind of interesting and it reminded me of the huge water fight I participated in Thailand.

This guy was dressed as a fairy!

And that is all for now! =]

Happy Caribana!

yay! aKDPhi Charter Class!

May 26, 2010

For those of you who don’t know, B.L.I.S.S. was an interest group for an Asian-interest sorority in the States called alpha Kappa Delta Phi. Recently, we were given the opportunity by aKDPhi National Board to charter aKDPhi and become the 47th chapter and 1st international chapter at the University of Toronto! It was super exciting and I met sooo many amazing girls in the process. I’m especially thankful to our mom, Momma Huie, who is now the president of the national board, our host chapter – Rho Chapter at SUNY Buffalo, my big Skyline ♥  and, of course, my 12 psises.

We’re aKDPhi TO Charter Class, baby!
